I have successfully completed the first week of my mission! The MTC is
definitely not what I expected it to be, but I’m enjoying it and the
friendships I’ve developed with a lot of the missionaries will last a
lifetime. The pillows here are amazing, I’m sleeping so well!
But I need to start with my companions. I entered the MTC in a trio
with Elder Kraft and Elder Wride, but on Monday Elder Wride was no
longer able to stay due to some personal reasons. It was pretty
upsetting to see him go, but I know the Lord has a plan for each of
In other news Elder Kraft and I are best friends already. We are doing
well together, and I couldn’t have asked for a better companion!
The missionaries in my zone and district are all getting along as
well, so it makes for better spiritual experiences in district
meetings, church, and our everyday learning in the classrooms. I don’t
have a leadership position at the moment either.
The schedule is pretty intense here. We are in classrooms for 6-9
hours a day and my capacity to learn and understand the gospel has
increased 10 fold. The days are long and a blur, but the spiritual
experiences I’ve had are clear and prominent. Elder Kraft and I have
been teaching 4 investigators and seeing the gospel touch them and
change them has been so cool to be a part of. One of the investigators
we’ve been teaching is Jameson. He’s 23 and moved to Utah to live with
his aunt who’s a member. He has simple questions about whether or not
God is real and how he can find joy in life. As we’ve been meeting
with him we’ve seen his desire grow and we asked him to be baptized
yesterday and he said YES 🙂 it was such a powerful faith building
experience for all of us, and I can’t wait to serve the people of
Bakersfield so they can feel the same joy Jameson feels as we teach
him about God’s Plan.
Today we are going to the temple as part of our P-Day and we’re
excited about that. I’m not sure what else to say other than I’m doing
well! I hope all is well, and y’all are enjoying life 🙂
